Acknowledge the emotion another person appears to be expressing.

Reflecting feelings means identifying and acknowledging the emotion another person appears to be expressing.

Listen for emotion.
Use tentative language.
Name the feeling.
Avoid arguing with it.
Ask whether you understood correctly.
